Spelling of paternal grandfather's name

[edit]

The Handbook of Texas Online gives the spelling of her paternal grandfather's name as "Cuney," so I have used this.Parkwells (talk) 01:51, 25 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Cuney Hare and Jazz

I added a bit on this subject. I think it's fair to say that Maud was a typical classical music snob. She also had the typical middle class prejudice against 'low' music - including popular dance forms of the early 20th century. Given the racial atmosphere of the time, it's perfectly understandable that she would want to feature 'the best' of her race.

I've led walking tour groups to her house on Sheridan st in Boston. She's a great story.
