Identifications
[edit]There are five Matthew Towgoods in six generations. According to which is not RS but is credible, we have:
- Matthew Towgood I 1620-1670, father of
- Matthew Towgood II 1646-1726, father of
- Michaijah Towgood 1700-1759, father of
- Matthew Towgood III 1727-1791, father of
- Matthew Towgood IV 1761-1 January 1831 (query this by newspaper reports), 10 children by first marriage, 14 by second, father of
- Matthew Towgood V 1787-1867.
The assumption is that Matthew Towgood junior as mentioned in the Fourdrinier business is Matthew Towgood V, who took forward the paper business. I think he is "Matthew Towgood of Dartford". Charles Matthews (talk) 07:24, 25 February 2023 (UTC)
William Bloxham
[edit]A Rugby School list gives him age 13 in 1795. This doesn't quite fit with the source suggesting he was born 1780. Charles Matthews (talk) 09:18, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
