a Cyclone is an Large scale rotating air mass over the Atlantic Ocean or northeastern Pacific Ocean. A tornado is a weather phenomenon that is a violently rotating column of air and it happens on land, like in this case, no? Julie Crowell (talk) 16:15, 21 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Julie Crowell: very old tornadoes were often referred to as "cyclones" - the word "tornado" didn't really pick up until the 1930s. In this case WP:COMMONNAME prevails. ^EF⁵ 16:19, 21 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
