intrusive adverts

[edit]

Would be nice to get some prove or citation for this: "In early 2017 the philosophy of the app changed leading it to be supported by intrusive adverts"

I agree, and added a "citation needed" tag. As far as I know, the app has had ads for quite a long time already, but they can be turned off with a switch in the preferences. I know that still works, as I've been using it for years, have the latest version, and have never seen ads. Maybe the person who made the edit installed it on a new phone and forgot to set the preferences? On the other hand, if you look at the Github repository ( https://github.com/mapsme/omim ) there seem to be quite a number of recent commit descriptions like "ads engine and RB banner system are added", "banners in search core", and so on. So I don't really know what the story is... --IamNotU (talk) 13:18, 15 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

As far as I can tell, if you click on certain locations, you will be served an add in the details that pop up, unless it's a location that's already linked to Booking.com. Alex Schröder (talk) 10:57, 24 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Some proposed changes

[edit]

Hi there. On behalf of Maps.me, I'd like to propose a few text article updates to fix inaccuracies. I have a conflict of interest that I’ve disclosed on my user page. I'm seeking review of my proposed edit.
