Article only deals with US
[edit]Following up on User:SMcCandlish's topic on Wikiproject:Law, this article currently only covers a US perspective and should be expanded to cover other jurisdictions. I have added a {{Globalize}} template to indicate this. -Furicorn (talk) 20:07, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

- @ Furicorn: The article is about a U.S. federal statute, so of course it only covers a U.S. perspective. It is not intended to cover other jurisdictions. (@ Specfico: This article IS specific to the cited statute.)
- Perhaps there is some confusion about what "False Statements" means. It's not a general, generic term -- it's a term of art that refers specifically to the U.S. statute in question. (Section 1001 of Title 18, United States Code.) Captain Quirk (talk) 14:46, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
- Then the article title needs to be refined further. At present the article uses a common language approach and so the article too must be globalized.
- If we keep it restricted, retitle as "Making false statements (US Code)" so the "Making false statements" article can be used for a global context. MJHTrailsolid (talk) 03:52, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
I'm unaware of any non-U.S. jurisdiction that has an offense under this specific name (although undoubtedly there are various non-U.S. laws that address similar conduct). Thus, a "globalize" tag is misleading at worst, and ugly and unnecessary at best. Neutralitytalk 18:34, 1 June 2024 (UTC)

Knowingly
[edit]This article is about the crime of knowingly making false statements. It is not about "making false statements" which is not a crime. I propose the page be renamed to make it clearer that it is about the crime and therefore needs to refer to the crime, rather than something people do and don't need to worry about getting arrested for... ~2026-98703-7 (talk) 23:06, 13 February 2026 (UTC)
