Pronunciation

I agree, I'm from the village & it's Lun-cur-tay. Also, it's the A9 on the western boundary, not A90.

How, in pronunciation, does ty become tay? I'm not doubting you, I just can't hear it in my head. My grandparents were from Perth, and I only heard it pronounced ...tee. - Dudesleeper / Talk 19:23, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

I also agree it is "lun-cur-tay" or "luncur-tay" as the first 2 syllables tend to be rushed together with the emphasis on the "tay" 161.12.7.4 (talk) 14:43, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

How does Dudesleeper pronounce common words like pretty or dirty - tee or tay? Also, the nearby village of Stanley is pronounced Stan-lay. Point being, spelling shouldn't solely be used to decide pronunciation, just look at the many variable ways that "ough" is pronounced: cough, through, bough, though, etc. Grievous Angel (talk) 16:42, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

I think Grievous means you don't pronounce them as 'pretee' & 'dirtee'. The 'Tay' as we've said it's pronounced is short when it's spoken. Help correct error
