Rename or merge?
[edit]A disk is a little round device (picture), a strictly physical entity. The term logical disk is awkward and used only in a certain place in MS Windows. Virtual disk is similarly awkward, but at least it is recognized in the industry. But what if you will virtualize a USB stick? Would the server see a logical stick then? I would say that server uses logical/virtual volume (maybe storage). This is the most widely established term, that causes no confusion.
Thus I would like to propose renaming this page to logical volume.
This would require deleting the existing logical volume redirect, which is a good thing. Nowadays, a logical volume can be created not only by OS LVM, but also by disk array controller or by storage virtualization appliance.

- Well there it is almost six years later. Still needs work. Would like to at least merge Vdisk here. I have heard both "logical" and "virtual" disk as well as volume terminology, alas. It looks like now virtual disk is a disambig page, while logical volume redirects to logical volume management? W Nowicki (talk) 20:02, 1 June 2013 (UTC)
