A: This is a list of 12-step organizations that already have their own Wikipedia articles. If an organization doesn't meet the requirements spelled out in WP:CORP to merit its own article on Wikipedia, then it cannot be included here. See Wikipedia:Write the article first. If you are associated in any way with an organization that you want listed, then you have a conflict of interest. You may write a draft article and submit it for review. See Wikipedia:Article wizard for guidance.

Proposal: Add Internet and Technology Addicts Anonymous (ITAA)
[edit]In addition to the other folks above, I'd also like to propose adding ITAA to this list. I'm disclosing that I have a personal connection to ITAA and am therefore not editing anything directly, but I believe it meets notability requirements based on the following independent reliable sources:

The lead paragraph is wrong
[edit]The lead paragraph starts "This is a list of Wikipedia articles".
This is, however, a list of twelve-step groups, as indicated by the article title and contents. We do not in general write about wikipedia articles, and I will claim that such a list would not be notable.
The Lead paragraph was changed to reflect the talk page consensus that only groups with an article should be included. But this should not change the subject of the article.
I see two ways to correct this: Go back to the "notable twelve step groups" wording which was in place until this change was introduced in 2020, or remove the qualification completely. Even though the word "notable" makes this a little self-referential, it does provide information to the reader, and I will boldly make that change. NisJørgensen (talk) 06:21, 12 June 2026 (UTC)
- I just realized that I "fixed" this problem once before, in 2019, and it was "fixed back" by @Anachronist in 2020. So in order to not be accused of edit warring: If you disagree with my edit, feel free to revert it, and discuss here. - This article has had a problem in the past with people coming in to add their favorite non-notable local 12-step group to the list. That change was intended to prevent such occurrences, but I agree with you, it shouldn't be necessary now that we have extended-confirmed protection available to force these editors to make edit requests on the talk page, if necessary.
