Totems

It seems awkward and nonsensical to say "spiked cane" to refer to these objects which apparently contain supernatural properties beyond what that describes. Multiple times in the show they've been referred to as "totems" and "voodoo totems", so I propose one of these or another variation for describing the objects, like totem poles, totem canes, etc.

Also for the name of "Smiley Creature" in the casting list, shouldn't we add "Smiley" as an alternative name *if* he is also being referred to by that in the episode summaries (which he is currently, after the first mention of "Smiley Creature"). E.g. ... as "Smiley Creature" or "Smiley" ... or, ... as "Smiley Creature" / "Smiley" ... or, ... as "Smiley Creature" or simply "Smiley" Wahalo (talk) 17:11, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

Additionally, there is inconsistent or interchangeable use of "monster" and "creature" in many of the episode summaries. Is that okay? Also, the reanimated doll made from Roger's corpse is called simply a monster, creating more confusion. Maybe calling the entities that come at night creatures would suffice as a way to differentiate them from the doll(s) as "monster(s)", unless more detail is added than just monster, like doll monster, reanimated doll, etc. Wahalo (talk) 18:45, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

In every episode they are credited, the actors portraying the "night creatures" are credited as: "Smiley Creature", "Waitress Creature", "Mechanic Creature", "Old Lady Creature", etc., so changing all the uses of "monster" to "creature" when referring to the "night creatures" makes more sense. These episode summaries have been created by multiple editors over the years (myself included) so there was bound to be inconsistencies.

Regarding the "totems", multiple characters have referred to them as totems since 4x06 so I see no issue with the name change. When it comes to the "Smiley Creature", "Smiley" is used in the episode description of 4x01 per and has been credited as "Smiley" since season 3. I personally don't mind how its displayed.

I'll ping @Marco camino 10 so they can comment since they were the one who reverted you regarding this before. Cheezknight (talk) 19:49, 16 June 2026 (UTC)

I added the word "totem," but it would seem more correct, at least in its first mention, since in later mentions we can simply say "totem," to mean "sharpened totem" or something like that, since a cane does not necessarily have to be sharpened by itself, so my previous wording was also wrong there Marco camino 10 (talk) 20:33, 16 June 2026 (UTC)
