I'm not sure if there's a place in the article for one of Webber & Fields' routines, but I'm putting a chunk of one here:

"Singing Scene"
Lew is on stage at the opening, rehearsing an orchestra. Joe enters, singing annoyingly and badly.
Lew: "Please stop that - you're disgracing the music!"
Joe keeps interrupting, until Lew stops him:
"PLEASE stop - DON'T sing.......when you sing music hides her head - and besides you don't know anything about music"
"How do YOU know?"
"Because I know Everything about music!"
Joe (to audience) "He knows all about music" laughs
Lew "I bet you don't even know what it is a scale"
"I do too!"
"What is it?"
"A petal on a fish!"
"No Joe, here' I'll teach you what a scale is. First you have Do, then Re..."
"Dat's my wife!"
"No, Re ain't your wife"
"Rae IS my wife!"
"No Re ain't your wife. Re is a sound"
"She ain't a sound - She's a Scream!!"
"No Joe, you got it all wrong - Re is after Do" (of course this sounds like Rae is after Dough)
"Dat's my wife!" Saxophobia 23:13, 4 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Breakup

[edit]

I believe it was Weber, not Fields, who continued the music hall. Fields went to his own theatre, named for himself. Vzeebjtf (talk) 15:03, 3 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Where was he born

[edit]

It is not clear where he was born. In 1867 when he was born "Poland" was a vague area, split between the just formed Austro-Hungarian Empire, the Russian Empire and the Kingdom of Prussia. When he was about 4 the Kingdom of Prussia exerted its power over a few other states to form the German Empire.John Pack Lambert (talk) 20:42, 17 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
