Edit request: Add Femme Bar to Evolution section

I am disclosing a conflict of interest — I am a co-owner of Femme Bar (see my talk page).

I am requesting that an uninvolved editor consider adding the following sourced sentence to the Evolution section, after the sentence "Some new bars have opened with this business model.":

In March 2023, Femme Bar opened in Worcester, Massachusetts, becoming New England's first modern lesbian bar.

Why this may belong: The Evolution section already discusses new lesbian bars that opened in 2023 (Ruby Fruit, Honey's at Star Love in Los Angeles). Femme Bar was independently covered by Spectrum News 1, The Boston Globe, the Worcester Business Journal, Yahoo Lifestyle, and others, and is listed on the Lesbian Bar Project website. Multiple independent sources describe it as New England's first modern lesbian bar. A draft article with 12 independent citations is under AfC review at Draft:Femme Bar.

I was initially confused by the word "modern" in the proposed text, but after reading the article, I gather that the word means that Femme Bar is among the bars that adopted the changed business model or clientele, i.e. "the new bars [that] describe themselves as a "queer bar" that caters to a more diverse group than the typical lesbian bar, and gay bars".

The Spectrum article doesn't say much about this new model (at the end the term "queer spaces" is used, but otherwise the article speaks only of a lesbian bar). Would you please check that the proposed placement is what you intended, and if possible, provide a source that more directly mentions the new business model?

Hi, @Fiske! Thank you for disclosing your COI. I'm not sure I see the source supporting "first modern lesbian bar". Is there a source for maybe 'first lesbian bar to open in New England since 19xx' or 'only lesbian bar in Massachusetts' or something? Valereee (talk) 20:59, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Addition of Lipstick Lounge
