Not in Menlo Park.

[edit]

I see that one of the cited sources is the basis for the claim that Douglass and his wife Victoria moved to Menlo Park, CA, and that their mansion is "now in Atherton". This is frustrating, because I know I cannot, per Wikipedia editing standards, merely state from personal knowledge as a Menlo School alumnus, former resident of the Menlo School dorms, and local area resident that, no, it was never in Menlo Park. Yet, I'd like to see this error corrected. Thoughts?

Both Atherton and Menlo Park sought and achieved incorporation in 1874, long before the Douglasses arrived, and the border between them (west of El Camino Real) was always Valparaiso Avenue. Thus, the mansion (and later school), being on the Atherton side of that street, was consistently in Atherton since 1874. 2603:3024:1875:6A00:B867:2B13:11A9:6812 (talk) 18:38, 16 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
