Deceased

[edit]

Unfortunately Lee Thommock (nee Hammock) passed away from a stroke on September 2, 2022 in Woodstock, Georgia. While internet references can be found to the memorial (primarily on Facebook) and a GoFundMe set up for his children's college fund in lieu of flowers (links to this site are blacklisted on Wikipedia, please search for "GoFundMe College Fund in lieu of Flowers, organized by Lindsay Thommock"), extensive research has so far yet to reveal a proper obituary I can cite as a reference. Can this GoFundMe be considered a sufficient citation/reference with which to base an edit on? besiegedtalk 20:17, 3 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Cunard, hopefully this is the last of these death-related questions I have for now. :D Do you see any sources to verify his death? BOZ (talk) 15:32, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi BOZ (talk · contribs). I found a 126-minute YouTube video titled "Service for Lee Thommock Sept 17, 2022". This timestamp shows a photo of Lee Thommock and says "In Loving Memory: Lee Thommock. November 28, 1976 – September 2, 2022." I did not find any reliable sources connecting Lee Thommock to the Lee Hammock who is a game designer. I did not watch the entire video of the service which may contain information connecting Lee Thommock to the Lee Hammock who is the subject of this article. OK, thanks @Cunard for finding that. I'm not likely to watch a 2-hour service either if I'm being honest. :) BOZ (talk) 03:01, 4 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Guinness323, I don't know if I ever asked you about this one, but do you see anything to make this connection? BOZ (talk) 12:57, 5 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
@BOZ The funeral video confirms that Lee Hammock the game designer and Lee Thommock {pronounced TOE-mock, a portmanteau of his wife Lindsay's surname "Thompson" and his surname) are the same person. Here's rundown of the various biographical details mentioned in the video:
23:15 LARPer, both player and creator
29:10 Brandes Stoddard: Mentioned Thommock's work on Fading Suns, Dawning Star: Operation Quicklaunch (Blue Devil Games), Helios Rising (the latter two nominated for ENnie Awards)
30:30 Lead game designer: Fallen Earth
32:10 Creative projects for Bethesda, Paizo, Tripwire, Blizzard
33:30 Michael Hammock (brother): Work included graphic novels, comics, RPGs, videogames
1:08:00 Dates of death and birth
Based on this funeral video, I have changed the article to indicate he is deceased.Guinness323 (talk) 06:20, 6 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
Amazing, thank you for doing all of that! :o BOZ (talk) 09:12, 6 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

I am Lees widow. He’s legal name was Thommock, a combination of my name Thompson and his Hammock. He published under his maiden name. Lindsay.thommock (talk) 17:15, 17 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
