Identity

[edit]

The article in its previous form confused this Laurence with his cousin Laurence (1750–1817), son of John of Kilgraston and Ann (or Anne, or Anna) Craigie. It was this other Laurence who became an advocate in 1773. See The Faculty of Advocates in Scotland 1532–1943, Scottish Record Society part cxlv, p. 44. The John and Robert described as brothers were in fact brothers of this other Laurence and cousins of this one. Admiral Craigie was son of John, and therefore a first cousin once removed, not a nephew. Roryharrow (talk) 20:38, 3 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
