Click or implosive?
[edit]I find that the alveolar lateral implosive is more easily formed and produces a very similar sound. Is that correct? --Quilbert (talk) 13:41, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- The may well sound similar. They seem to when I try it, anyway. They also sound very similar to lateral ejectives, to the point that the two are often mixed up in language descriptions. kwami (talk) 15:15, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

The recording is not clear enough imo
[edit]Through my speakers it literally sounds like an emphatic /t/ or like a dental click at best. I made my own recording which I think sounds clearer:

- The current version is better. You're right that it doesn't sound particularly lateral, but yours is more a popping sound, whereas in most languages (and most speakers) they sound affricated, as in the current recording.
- Also, both of you geminate it between vowels. I don't think any language has geminate clicks. (Unless you're just glottalizing it, [kǁˀ]. Hard to tell.) — kwami (talk) 07:07, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- I don't think I geminated the click itself did I? Perhaps another consonant that I'm not aware of? In any case, I was just copying other recordings. The comment about it not being affricated enough is fair. Emdosis (talk) 07:22, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
- The first syllable is closed. I can't tell what the final consonant is, but you don't have an open syllable leading to the C. You're right of course that our other recordings do this: it's a general defect of our recordings that they claim to illustrate [a.Ca] but are actually [aC.Ca]. — kwami (talk) 07:29, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
