Merge with indie rock

I don't think there is enough here to sperate this from the 2000s section of the indie rock page, it's essentially what the 2000s indie timeline turned into and personally I don't see it as a genre like it's been displayed here. There are quite a lot of quality RS that use the term 'landfill indie' and have written WP:SIGCOV pieces on it as a sub-genre in music such as Independent and Guardian. Others have even given their top-x 'landfill indie' songs, such as in Vice, so I do think it has enough quality RS and coverage to merit its own standalone article. what garbage

i will stake my hat that 'landfill indie', which was never a movement; nor a thing, will not become a term/genre in the least. It's a term I've seen used online since maybe like 2013 but in my opinion it's not a genre. It's more like a term to poke fun at low effort "indie" music, in a similar vein to "buttrock" for post-grunge. As I've said above I think it's worth putting in the indie rock article but I don't see the need for it to have a page or be described as a genre or movement more of a term of dislike.

If this page reflected that is a (semi-)used term show said dislike of what the genre became in the mid to late 2000s I'd be more on board with the page existing, bit I don't think there's many sources on the topic and most journalists don't agree which bands fit the description of the term. Actually looking at the article again now, the wording seems to have changed for the last time I viewed it. The article does make the term sound like more of a term of dislike than a genre, so I take my previous statement back. OBLIVIUS96 (talk) 20:40, 25 November 2025 (UTC)
