While looking at this article I noted the area given (21.4 sq km) and then looked at Google Maps. this area cannot be correct, even allowing for an extended flood plain right up to the edge of the town of Jauja.
Looking at the map the area, including the silted region at the south end of the lake, is about 4.4 sq km with open water of about 3 sq km.
I have checked the archived reference given in the article and that does indeed say the area is 21.4 sq km so I am led to the conclusion that it is that article that is incorrect.
I have commented out the area in the text and infobox of this article pending anybody finding another reliable source to confirm the real area.MWchat (talk) 09:59, 17 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
