[edit]Lead
[edit]- He was charged in 2017 with inciting subversion - Clarify where this was
- There are a few unnecessary commas here: inciting subversion, and served, jet ski, and was detained and sentence, and was deported.
- where he planned to plead asylum. - From what I found, seeking asylum is when someone proactively does it, and pleading asylum is a defense against legal proceedings . Based on the source the phrase used here should be "seek" instead of "plead".
- Johnny Kwon - This isn't sourced in the article
Background
[edit]- Unnecessary comma at in 1988, to an
- He travelled in Lebanon and Syria - change "in" to "to"
- He was described as a regular visitor to South Korea. - I don't think that this needs to be attributed, as other statements in the source aren't, NYT is RS and it says He has visited South Korea, his grandfather’s birthplace, regularly since childhood.. Also, expand it to mention the childhood and grandfather part if you can.
Arrest and imprisonment in China
[edit]- Section looks fine
Flight to South Korea
[edit]- Inspired by The Shawshank Redemption (1994) - I don't think the year is needed
- Link Incheon Coast Guard to Korea Coast Guard instead
- planned to plead asylum. - As per above, change this to "seek" asylum instead

- Let's roll.
- I implemented everything save for the grandfather detail, which I don't think is important. An ethnic Korean having ancestors born in Korea is ... implied.
