Map issue
[edit]Topoli is captured since March of 2025 and no need to make it contested
also the settlement of petropavlivka is not contested anymore as Ukraine regained it
also dvorichna is fully captured Yousifali777 (talk) 19:05, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- The map is mainly based off of the ISW’s map, who has assessed that Russia does not have full control over those settlements yet. Russia also recently made a claim in Petropavlivka’s northern outskirts and fighting is ongoing in those outskirts. IiSmxyzXX (talk) 20:52, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
- Ok thanks Yousifali777 (talk) 07:24, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
Battle of Dvorichna redirect
[edit]This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
Battle of Dvorichna should redirect here.
~< Valentinianus I (talk) >~ 10:54, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
Not done: The original page on the Battle of Dvorichna has been merged into Luhansk Oblast campaign. Incidentally, Luhansk Oblast campaign is linked in this article under background. An edit request is not the appropriate template to request an unmerge and remerge. Please see WP:MERGEPROP and WP:PM. SI09 (talk) 11:23, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- That's moronically bureaucratic. I don't request a remerge, just alter the redirect.
- The old contents of Battle of Dvorichna were WP:CRYSTAL garbage. The actual Battle of Dvorichna (that happened much later) is part of this article.
- ~< Valentinianus I (talk) >~ 15:22, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- An edit request is still not an appropriate way to request a redirect. Also, just because you think they're "moronically bureaucratic", or you think that the old content was garbage, doesn't mean you can ignore Wikipedia procedures. Please establish consensus. SI09 (talk) 15:45, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
Done: To those of us who are active in the topic area, this is clearly the correct target for the redirect. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) 18:47, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
Article needs updating
[edit]Since the articles last update around early May, many changes to the frontline and overall situation here have occurred. Notably, there has been increased activity around the international border with Kharkiv oblast, and Russian forces have made several claims (most recently as July 6 2025) regarding breaching Kupiansk’s defences and capturing its immediate surroundings, and even claiming foothold in the cities administrative boundaries. The article should receive some updates soon, as the situation here seems to be developing more and more. IiSmxyzXX (talk) 22:47, 6 July 2025 (UTC)
- Sorry, I can’t update this page right now because I’m busy with things in real life. Once I’m done with them, I’ll try to update this page. Bukansatya (talk) 08:16, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
- According to Ukrainian and neutral sources, the Russians suffered a humiliating defeat in Kupyansk. President Zelenskyy confirmed this. So the result can be changed to "Ukraine victory" ~2025-32352-23 (talk) 11:31, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

- Geolocations say ukraine never took the city back in its entirety the same as Russia's claims. The city remains contested 8 months later. With the entire eastern portion seeming to be in Russian hands with small footholds on the opposite bank. ~2026-36748-12 (talk) 18:36, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Ukrainian troop number in infobox too low
[edit]The Forbes article cited at the amount of Ukrainian troops section of the infobox states that "several 2,000-person brigades" are deployed in just the city of Kupyansk alone. The infobox should be corrected to reflect this. 2001:1C00:CF05:3D00:81B5:827B:790F:9C17 (talk) 22:16, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
- do you have the new source?
- Sorry if my english is bad, english is my second language Bukansatya (talk) 12:16, 19 November 2025 (UTC)
- The existing source said
A much larger Ukrainian force with several 2,000-person brigades defends Kupyansk itself
, but it was seemingly misinterpreted by whoever put it into the infobox. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) (contributions) 14:41, 3 December 2025 (UTC) - I am also considering removing the estimate for the Russian manpower. From what I can tell,
10,000+
comes fromWhether and when Kupyansk falls for the second time in the wider war could hinge on whether and when the powerful Russian 1st Guards Tank Army—three divisions and five brigades with tens of thousands of troops—can secure a firmer foothold on the western bank of the Oskil River
in the same article, but all reports suggest that the Russian forces involved here are primarily of the 6th Combined Arms Army with a few supplementary 1st Guards Tank Army units, so I'm not sure how useful or appropriate Axe's number is for this infobox. Zelensky video at Kupyansk
[edit]Firstly, adjust this sentence:
The operation culminated with president Zelensky visiting the center of the town on 12 December in person and recording a video at the distinctive monument with town's name.
Zelensky didn't visit the center of Kupyansk but the stele on the southwestern outskirts of the city (49.693285, 37.585564). Far from the CENTER.
Secondly, there are posts on TG about the video being faked or old footage. There's a Russian drone video of the stele and another video of two Ukrainian women visting the site. Both show the stele and its surroundings (such as the anti-drone net tunnel) much more destroyed.
Obviously, pro-UKR media won't report on it being likely fake or old, at least not now. So you won't be able to edit the article. Just keep it in mind.

Done: I have changed center
toentrance
, which was supported by the existing source.- Regarding the fact that the footage was in fact not shot on 12 December unfortunately I cannot correct the claim made in the article using Telegram posts but if this information can be found in another source I will add it immediately. Putin on Dec 2
[edit]Even later Putin used Kupiansk as an example. This beautiful quote shows on how the Russian leader is in his Kremlin “bubble”, insulated by top military leaders from the facts.
“You should ask Zelensky because Kupyansk has been effectively under our control for several weeks, completely and in its entirety. I think the Ukrainian leadership appears focused on issues other than the situation in the active combat zone and seems to be living on another planet. … Russian troops control both the right-bank and left-bank areas, entirely.”
Also, when Kuzovlev’s award is mentioned, that should be dated Dec 9, and maybe moved down in chronological order. ~2025-40485-16 (talk) 04:07, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
Partly done I have added Putin's 2 December quote and will take a look at the info regarding Kuzovlev now. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) (contributions) 21:06, 19 December 2025 (UTC)- From what I'm seeing here 1 2 it seems that sources cannot confirm a connection between Kuzovlev's award and the events around Kupiansk so I'm going to remove this from the article for the time being. Unable to edit this article
[edit]I was going to make a grammatical correction to this article (it contains errors such as the lack of indefinite articles, indicating that someone whose first language is not English is editing this article using grammar from their own Slavic language). That's not appropriate for an encyclopedia. However, I was prevented from editing this article because it appears to be locked from editing. Please fix this ridiculous situation! ~2025-31208-44 (talk) 03:16, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- It looks like this edit fixed the grammar issues you may have been referring to. If there's something else please let me know and I would be happy to fix it. SaintPaulOfTarsus (talk) (contributions) 20:59, 19 December 2025 (UTC)

End of Kupiansk Offensive
[edit]I've seen claims today that the Kupiansk Offensive is over because Russia has been completely forced out of Kupiansk. Can anyone here please verify or debunk?Inkan1969 (talk) 00:09, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
- Everything east of the river is likely in Russian control at this point and they have footholds on the opposite bank. Your source was very wrong according to evidence that came out for months afterwards. ~2026-36748-12 (talk) 18:38, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
