[edit]@Guninvalid: Why did you remove all content and sources from the page? Skyshiftertalk 19:17, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
- WP:TNT. Fully half of the sources were junk, and the Background section seemed to have been copied from an old version of Assassination of Charlie Kirk. It was easier to cut out everything and paste back in the good rather than try to only delete the bad. guninvalid (talk) 20:20, 23 September 2026 (UTC)

- ... that one journalist has described kirkification (example pictured) as a "hate-bait nuclear arms race"?
- ALT1: ... that following Charlie Kirk's assassination, some internet users deepfaked his face onto celebrities, fictional characters, memes, and reaction images (example pictured)? Source: same as ALT0's source, and https://www.hindustantimes.com/world-news/us-news/what-is-kirkification-face-swap-ai-trend-slammed-as-charlie-kirk-fans-mourn-assassination-one-year-on-101789025360450.html

- Comment: I feel honored to nominate an article about kirkification, of all things, to DYK. I created ALT1 by accident, ALT0 is my preferred hook. Alternative image caption, if appropriate: "A kirkified Mona Lisa"

- Disagree with the move into mainspace and oppose characterizing my involvement as moving it into mainspace. The image is especially navel-gazy. It was created by a Wikipedian for WP (in direct contravention of WP:AIIMAGES, then used by a non-notable opinion column to demonstrate Wikipedia’s version of a kirk meme, then that column was claimed as proof that the image itself is notable. It’s one thing to play fast and loose with rules at niche articles, it’s another to blast it out on the front page. As far at the text, it should be: … that following his assassination, face swaps of Charlie Kirk became "one of the most widespread memes in recent memory". Mikewem (talk) 17:52, 26 September 2026 (UTC)
- Any kirkification meme is going to be AI generated by nature. Even if it's not the most famous examples of kirkification, it's still illustrative of what kirkslop tends to look like. Can you elaborate why you believe this article wasn't ready for mainspace? The goal of WP:AfC is to accept articles that would probably survive a WP:AfD, and this topic definitely has WP:LASTING notability by itself. That's why I moved it to mainspace, even if the article itself isn't the highest quality, because Wikipedia is always a work in progress. guninvalid (talk) 20:50, 26 September 2026 (UTC)
- DYK is not the place to showcase wikipedians’ original digital art. Full stop. There’s no room for any compromise from me on that point. Per WP:LASTING, the meme has not yet had a lasting effect because it has not had a “noted and sourced permanent effect of historical significance”. Mikewem (talk) 21:50, 26 September 2026 (UTC)

Overall:
Article nominated in september 26 and moved to mainspace in September 23, copyvio noticed a 20.6% copyright violation, although it just detected a quoted source. Sources are all generally reliable and long enough. All hooks are interesting. Overall, no glaring issues. As for its current problems:
- Despite it being freely license in technicality, We should not be using the main image that was requested by the nominator per WP:AIGI. Despite kirkification memes being AI-Generated in general, we shouldn't put it as the first hook in a DYK prep per Mikewem. Preppers should add this hook in anything but the first.
- This is also not a AfD discussion, this is a DYK nomination where recently created or expanded articles are put into mainspace, so no WP:LASTING discussion yet. Also, I'm not really experienced in AfD discussions, so I have no bark on this. ꕥ= DoNothingEveryday =ꕥ 12:56, 27 September 2026 (UTC)
