It seems to me that some mention of Sogdiana should be made in the classical discussion. It's a name one sees, and it's in Russian on the Historical Museum, but the relationship of Khujand and Sogdiana is never hinted at. Is Khujand a Tajik development of its historical name Alexandria? Please --linguistic and cultural connexions need research.
