Change Wikipedia page title to "Kern Medical"
[edit]Kern Medical, formerly known as Kern Medical Center, has been rebranded for over 10 years. The title of "Kern Medical Center" is outdated and should be changed as they no longer identify with that name. This name also refers to what was previously the main campus on Mt. Vernon Ave., however, the hospital has expanded immensely within Kern County to multiple different sites. The following link provides the information surrounding the name change.

It was founded in 1867 in Havilah, the original seat of Kern County, as an adobe building featuring one room. It then relocated to Bakersfield, the new county seat of Kern County, in 1875, where it was located on G Street (where Bakersfield High School is located now) and established by William McFarland, costing $1,400. Henry S. Bachman was the only physician to serve the community, which at the time had less than 1,000 residents. This location also doubled as a morgue. In 1895, a new hospital was constructed on a six-acre plot of land. This building was two stories and contained 40 beds, which had a staff of 40 beds, five doctors and eight nurses. Where Kern Medical now sits is located at Flower St. and Mt. Vernon Ave., and had 66 patients transferred to it on September 27, 1925, which marked the opening of the new campus. 1934 marked the first physician residency being launched. During World War II, the operating budget eclipsed $1 million for the first time in its existence. At this time, there were 500 employees (now grown to 2,400 physicians and staff) who worked for the hospital, with a patient count of over 600 per day.
