This is not Kazuo Yamada the cinematographer

[edit]

There's a Japanese cinematographer from about 50-60 years ago named KAZUO YAMADA who gets mixed up with the Japanese composer of the same name.

Here's an example (there are probably other movies with English-language Wikipedia pages that link to the wrong bio, but I just fixed this one), and I've removed the link to the English-language article about the composer, ctrl+F Kazuo Yamada:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samurai_Rebellion

Here's the Japanese-language page for Kazuo Yamada the cinematographer (he did a lot of SFX monster movies, actually), but no English language page.

https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%B8%8A%E6%84%8F%E8%A8%8E%E3%81%A1_%E6%8B%9D%E9%A0%98%E5%A6%BB%E5%A7%8B%E6%9C%AB

Kazuo Yamada the composer (this page)'s bio photo appears around the web for Yamada the cinematographer, for example, MUBI:

https://mubi.com/en/cast/kazuo-yamada

MUBI, like some other sites, auto-generates pages for movies, even if they're not offered in their catalog. So I wonder if creating a Wikidata entry for Yamada the cinematographer might help? Plus somehow finding a bio photo to put in a translated Wikipedia article. NevinThompson (talk) 23:35, 23 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
