Born 1854, or 1853?

[edit]

Are we certain that he was born in 1854? The census from 1880 mentions him (26 years old, born 1853/1854) and his sister Louise (18 years old, born 1861/1862). There is a Julius Hauser, born 7 August 1853, baptised 9 August 1853, from Rust, Ettenheim, Baden, Germany. His sister Luise Hauser was baptised there on 20 August 1861. It wouldn't be the first time that an emigrant's birth date as recorded in the US is off by exactly one year. Renerpho (talk) 04:07, 3 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Indeed, this is the same person, and born in 1853. For sources, including sources from America that confirm his origin, compare . Renerpho (talk) 14:24, 5 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
Julius Hauser was my grandfather and he was indeed born in 1853. I’ve seen the records in Rust. 2600:8801:B005:E200:B999:AE59:26D1:8934 (talk) 02:26, 7 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
