Referring to "World War One" or "World War I" as "the Great War" is eccentric. It's a good 70 years out of date. It's like a copy-and-paste from a textbook written in the 1920s or 1930s. The correct encyclopedic name is "World War I" or "One" or "First World War" or whatever is uniform across Wikipedia (if in fact any article is ever reviewed to make sure it's uniform with all other articles). Children reading this article won't have any idea what the alleged "Great War" was. It's archaic and strange. And two or perhaps even three of the participants, the veterans, opined that they didn't think it was all that Great. At least one said it was downright non-Great. Hitherbefore lost Movie-Tone newsreel footage came to light last week in which the War in question seemed to qualify as "somewhat awful, to a degree". Of course, that's not dispositive unless in the future other sources turn up which agree with that assessment. But "Great" is not encyclopedic until it is objectively confirmed as such and assertions to the contrary credibly refuted.~2025-41301-80 (talk) 21:00, 17 December 2025 (UTC)Christopher Lawrence SimpsonReply
