Unreliable source
[edit]Sportylive360.com is the source of the news that Reardon resigned. I found the article (the current link is https://sportylive360.com/2025/06/24/for-next-shot-john-reardon-resigns-from-hudson-rex-a-bittersweet-farewell-to-a-beloved-tv-duo/) and the fact that this news appears nowhere but this one minor sports site is suspicious enough. But that photo of Reardon looks AI generated. It incorrectly states that Season 7 is in development (as of the article's date, Season 7 had already aired). The homepage is full of Ozzy Osbourne articles for no apparent reason. I feel like this is some kind of AI content farm. 70.29.19.138 (talk) 04:52, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
- The source leads nowhere now. The article has been removed. Also, John Reardon does not live in Vancouver, he currently lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Everything that article claimed, including him “resigning” is fake. The production of Hudson and Rex kicked him off the show while he was fine to return. 89.210.126.59 (talk) 02:30, 19 July 2025 (UTC)
John Reardon looks terrible with trying to grow a beard. Looks old and dirty 2601:541:282:9900:F884:4386:B35D:9024 (talk) 00:24, 18 July 2025 (UTC)

- While Reardon's absence was a valid excuse to proceed in a new direction, it is also true that Hudson and Rex is based on the European series Kommissar Rex and both creators of that program are credited on each episode. Additionally, they are listed as writers of season 8, episode 1 when "Mark" becomes the titular "Hudson.". It is logical to suspect that they still exercise some influence over the production in that their method of changing lead actors periodically has helped the longevity of their show by making it appear "new." While not the alleged reason for the change, it is likely a contributing factor and not irrelevant, simply more difficult to explain to a North American audience. 2603:7080:8E3F:812A:48AF:AE7C:AEB1:6E63 (talk) 19:20, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- Peter Hajek and Peter Moser have no relation to Hudson & Rex except for being credited as original creators. They never wrote an episode, never even stepped foot on Newfoundland. On IMDb's listing, the writer for the S8 premiere is actually Peter Mohan. If you check the actual credits inside that episode, you will see that this is true. The original creators have no influence on Hudson & Rex nor have they ever spoken about the creative process of the show in any capacity. Beta Film, the international distributor, owns the rights to the show and sold it to Shaftesbury that staffed it with writers and showrunners exclusively from Canada.
- Moreover, if you properly check Hajek and Moser's IMDb credit, they're listed as "based on the series created by" in every single episode, which confirms that they have no other connection to the show. 78.87.226.80 (talk) 22:38, 20 October 2025 (UTC)
