The Joe Pinion article should be reconsidered for deletion

[edit]

I believe the Joe Pinion article should be reconsidered for deletion based on Wikipedia's notability guidelines. The question isn't whether Joe Pinion has had an interesting career or whether his 2022 U.S. Senate campaign was newsworthy at the time. It clearly was. The question is whether there is sufficient significant, sustained coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources to justify a standalone biographical article.

Looking at the current article, much of the sourcing consists of campaign coverage, brief mentions, primary sources, or sources tied to particular events in his career. The article's principal claim to broader significance appears to stem from his 2022 Senate candidacy and election performance. Those circumstances generated coverage, but being a major-party candidate, receiving a significant number of votes, or making history as a candidate does not by itself establish lasting notability under Wikipedia's general standard.

This is particularly worth reconsidering because the page was previously proposed for deletion in 2022 on essentially the same notability grounds, and the underlying question has not necessarily been resolved simply by retaining the article.

I would encourage editors to evaluate the article based on the quality, independence, depth, and persistence of the available coverage rather than on the number of sources or the number of WikiProjects in which the article happens to be categorized.

If substantial independent sources exist that provide sustained, in-depth coverage of Pinion as a subject, those should be identified and considered. If they do not, deletion or consolidation into a more appropriate article would seem consistent with Wikipedia's notability principles. ~2026-44450-82 (talk) 23:14, 12 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
