More than one person?

According to Federico Contini (on Mirabileweb) the professor in Bologna has to be distinguished from the Jacques de Dinant who flourished 1228-1258 and died 19-4-1260 (he cites Glorieux, Répertoire I.326-7 (Google Books). --HHill (talk) 19:57, 5 May 2020 (UTC) ed. --HHill (talk) 13:30, 29 May 2020 (UTC)

I also stronlgy suspect that there are two different people who have been conflated in this article. On the one hand, there is the Bishop of Arras, who died around 1260, and on the other, the rhetorician who wrote "Summa Dictaminis" sometime between 1281 and 1295. Furthermore, the third source cited in the article (Emil J. Polak, A Textual Study of Jacques de Dinant's Summa Dictaminis (Librairie Droz, 1975), on page 13 explicitly states: "Jacques de Dinant, the rhetorician, should not be confused with the cleric of the same name who died April 17, 1260 as bishop of Arras. His chronology and role in the church exclude any possibility of identifyinh him with the master of rhetoric probably at the University of Bologna in the late thirteenth century". ~2026-15822-18 (talk) 16:00, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
