There is no such thing as a Jacobus coin. It's just the nickname used for the pound sovereign or UNITE issued by James I from 1604 to 1619. To distinguish it from James's later pound sovereign known as the LAUREL (1619-25), the Jacobus was also known as the SCEPTRE, in Scotland it was usually referred to as "20 merk piece". [edit]Newton writes of 20 shillings, and so does Merriam-Webster. 25 shillings seems to be a mistake. Maitake (talk) 11:16, 17 June 2020 (UTC)
