Variant spellings of his surname

Why are there two spellings of the surname in the article (Gile, Giles)? Is the spelling Giles in the infobox an error? I think the article should mention the variant spellings if both are used in reliable sources. If all the major sources consistently use Gile only, then I think only that spelling should be used in the article. Jeffrey Beall (talk) 19:38, 26 December 2023 (UTC).Reply
