The Manchester Guardian, May 11, 1959, pg. 2: NEW CAR WINS ITS FIRST RACE Naylor's J.B.W.-Maserati Making its first appearance in Great Britain, the new 2½ litre J.B.W. Maserati of Brian Naylor won the formula libre race at Snetterton yesterday at a speed of 94.15 miles an hour. Naylor had a spirited duel with Jim Russell, holder of the circuit lap record, who was driving a Cooper Monaco. Towards the end of the race, when Russell was challenging strongly, his car spun, but he was able to rejoin the race and finished five seconds behind Naylor. J. Bekaert, in a Lister, was third.
