Overall: Nice job getting this article to GA! It's very well-written and put together and I think the hook is rather interesting, although I would perhaps drop "holds the distinction of being" in favour of "was", just for the sake of concision. Grnrchst (talk) 12:18, 22 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

    • Grnrchst Then you are most welcome to make the changes. Thanks for your appreciation but this could not have been possible without the reviewer CtasACT and user Another Believer who helped me with making the necessary changes.
    • I hope this hook is sent to the Preparation Area soon so that it appears on the Main Page this week @DYK admins: . Regards MSincccc (talk) 02:17, 25 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

I learned from this very page a few years ago that Trump's legal name is Yael Kushner. Why isn't this either the title of the article or mentioned in the lede? 2600:100E:A015:4B11:4CB4:DF93:2798:6AAA (talk) 22:12, 11 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

What source refers to that as her "legal name"? – Muboshgu (talk) 17:28, 12 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

    Modern Orthodox Conversion

    [edit]

Ivanka Trump did a Modern Orthodox conversion (as opposed to a traditional orthodox conversion) see https://www.jpost.com/judaism/article-870345 and https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2017/politics/state/ivanka-trump-religion/ (and there were questions in the beginning about the conversion because the rabbi who officiated it is modern orthodox and has lower standards compared to traditional orthodox, see https://theworld.org/stories/2017/02/07/does-israel-recognize-ivankas-conversion-it-does-now) Mosnow358 (talk) 07:38, 10 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

I thought that modern orthodox was the official rabbinate of Israel, with some recognition of the ultraorthodox minority. Universal-Interessierterde (talk (de)) 10:49, 21 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
The Chief Rabbinate of Israel aligns much more closely with traditional Orthodox (Hareidi) standards rather than Modern Orthodoxy, though it occupies an official state-sanctioned positon Mosnow358 (talk) 21:04, 23 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I thought Hareidi/Ultra-Orthodox was that minority living in isolation, maybe also without modern things and being exempt from military service in Israel. I am confused now. Are other Jews not recognised in the very state they rule and fight for? Universal-Interessierterde (talk (de)) 17:09, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I want to clarify that according to the traditional Orthodox view, Jewish status isn't determined by how observant someone is. Someone born Jewish remains Jewish whether they're Haredi, Modern Orthodox, Conservative, Reform, or non-observant. What I was referring to was specifically in regards to conversion: the Chief Rabbinate follows traditional Orthodox halachic standards for determining whether a conversion establishes Jewish status. So a conversion that doesn't meet those standards isn't considered a valid conversion by the Rabbinate. I wasn't saying that the state doesn't recognize non-Haredi Jews as Jews, or that someone becomes non-Jewish because they are less observant. Mosnow358 (talk) 05:32, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
