It's true that it relies heavily on Blum, but Blum spent years on his book, did very wide-ranging research, and carefully cross-checked oral histories with contemporaneous documentation (the gold standard of historians). It's also a fairly obscure topic; I have a very large Israeli history library, but don't think I have an alternative source to suggest (other than books which make glancing reference to the operation of Carmi's group).
