hello guys i'm definitely a newbie here and i dont know all the details. but as a native russian i perfectly know that when you pronounce his surname Азимов you should soften the latest letter 'v' to the sound 'f' but in the ipa it says 'ˈæzɪmɒv' which makes non russian speakers pronounce it a bit off, what do you think guys, am i wrong here? "Foundation transplants Gibbon's Decline and Fall to far future"

I removed this claim and CodeTalker restored it with the comment "per sources". However, no source is cited for the claim. The article on the first novel says that Asimov pitched the storyline as the fall of an empire like the Roman Empire. Fair enough, but that's not at all the same as saying that Foundation "transplants" Gibbon's Decline and Fall. For one thing, Gibbon does not own the concept of the Roman Empire's fall; it was a real historical event. Foundation echoes certain causes of that actual fall (e.g. decadent emperors, supply chain vulnerability, rebellious provinces) but Asimov was writing his own story, not a mere "transplant" of Gibbon. ~2026-27607-47 (talk) 19:44, 6 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

This might be relevant nowadays. He wrote the famous essay "A cult of ignorance" in his column, which figures generally as the greatest reference when we talk about first time investigating this phenomenom (Anti-intellectualism). Notwithstanding it not being academic nor he being the first to denunce it, the essay is globally recognized.
