The first draft of this article was created during the Wikimedia NYC editathon, Wikicurious: Editing to the Beat (September 21, 2024), using the "AI-powered research assistant" NotebookLM by uploading reliable web sources on the International Salsa Museum to the platform and prompting its generator to "Write a Wikipedia article" (I wanted to see what the generator could do). The result was halfway decent, so I traced back and fact-checked its citations to ensure accuracy (NotebookLM refers back to the section it uses from the original source relatively accurately). I then edited the output for conciseness and flow, as the generator had used bullet points for the section "Mission" and the section "Activities." Lastly, I merged the sections "Origins" and "Mission" to avoid repeated information and submitted this draft for the inspection of other editors at the editathon.
