What's ILEA London used for?

[edit]

For what purposes is the ILEA definition of Inner London currently used? The article makes it sound like the primary definition, but it's clear about what it's used for in practice than is the case with the NUTS/ONS definition. Can anyone clarify? Alai 16:08, 20 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

From recollection a lot of public funding formulas distinguish between Inner and Outer London, hence Newham's campaign to be redesignated as an Inner London borough (although the general chaos that ensues from being inconsistently designated is also a factor). population figures at end of article

[edit]

Those are some BIG drops, could there be some kind of discussion in the article as to why?! Mathmo Talk 08:17, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

White flight to suburbs and beyond. There was deliberate social policy to get people to move out of inner London in the decades after 1945 and an extreme shortage of housing which also helped to get people out. I can put some information in about demographic (and density) changes. MRSCTalk 15:10, 28 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greenwich, Haringey and Newham

[edit]

These are the only boroughs whose definition varies between the two. What one does/should Wiki use? Justgravy (talk) 19:39, 22 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Haringey should be included on statistical map

[edit]

The text says Haringey is included in Inner London, so it should also be coloured red on the second map. Mikel Ward (talk) 11:24, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
