- I've done a few edits to the page. I'd like to think it's in a better state now, though I'd welcome more help if anyone is up to it. The 'Culture' and 'Tools' section probably are the best to focus on, since those are the main things people will likely be looking for when they come here. I added the sources from The Verge and The New Yorker, I think we ought to add a few more as well in order to provide more support so we aren't overly relying on the ones I've imported. - I have tried to add more depth to the introduction and included a mention of POSSE, a notable concept incubated within the community that has had broader discussion and use. I also intertwined the tools section with the stated principle of plurality/pluralism later in the article.
- I wasn't sure where to begin on the culture section so I didn't add anything, but I'm happy to try and find sources as the section expands. I think the current section is missing nuance. The page at present states the community culture is anti-AI and anti-social media, but that feels relatively reductive. The term "anti-AI" appears once on the indieweb.org website, for instance (checked via Google site search), and so I'd be looking for another source to corroborate this being a substantial enough tenet for the community to be so prominent in the page rightnow. POSSE doesn't explicitly discourage use of any social network either; the opposite: using social networks as a place to share your content is encouraged ("Let your friends read your posts, their way.", https://indieweb.org/POSSE).
- Self/community documentation feels like part of the culture. There are plenty of personal websites that end up commenting on their setups, etc. A search for the term "POSSE" on Google for example includes dozens of links to independent websites sharing their thoughts on the idea. - I rewrote the article significantly in light of two things:
- 1) According to the articles linked, IndieWeb as a term is used more to refer to the collection of sites that make it up and the movement advocating for more independently hosted sites than the community itself.
- 2)IndieWeb.org is mostly a respository and community for people to get started and a source of community, therefore not an entity in charge of what defines the IndieWeb. The article depended too much on that and so I tried to make the difference clear. IonicInstinct (talk) 16:55, 22 July 2026 (UTC)
