Spraying incident "bipartisan condemnation"
[edit]Hi. I'm sort of new to this whole editing thing, so it's possible (even probable) I'm overlooking a style or etiquette piece here, but nonetheless, is it really accurate to say that the incident drew bipartisan condemnation when Trump immediately called her a fraud and said it was a false flag? KingGramulaOfTheSouthernIsles (talk) 12:09, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
- Trump’s comments prove nothing. Republicans also condemned it., . Both are better sources than the one we have. Doug Weller talk 12:37, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
- Mm, I suppose it doesn't make any claim about whether people also didn't condemn it, or how widespread the condemnation was. Thanks. KingGramulaOfTheSouthernIsles (talk) 12:49, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
- Doug, we can't use Fox News as a source on political topics, especially American ones. See its rating on Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources: "There is consensus Fox News is generally unreliable for the reporting of politics, especially from November 2020 onwards. On the matter of science, and on the matter of pre-November 2020 politics, there is a consensus that the reliability of Fox News is unclear and that additional considerations apply to its use. As a result, Fox News is considered marginally reliable and generally does not qualify as a "high-quality source" for the purpose of substantiating exceptional claims in these topic areas." Is there any coverage in actually reliable sources, such as Deseret News and the Deutsche Welle? Dimadick (talk) 12:51, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
- I was thinking of the "generally unreliable" bit of that, I'm still not sure we couldn't use it in this specific case where it is agreeing with other sources.. I'm sure there are more sources though. Doug Weller talk 14:28, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
- I think we can discount Trump who added yesterday that she "came from hell". It would be more newsworthy if her Republican Congressional colleagues remained silent or applauded. O3000, Ret. (talk) 13:02, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
- I must say that I don't think not mentioning someone's statements because the statements are crazy makes much sense. And Republican colleagues have certainly tried to minimize the issue, and in one case blamed her for it. Then again, the only qualm I have now with the phrasing in the article is that the sentence doesn't connect with the following part from Trump, which still feels relevant to a discussion of partisan reactions. KingGramulaOfTheSouthernIsles (talk) 13:27, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
- Bipartisan does not mean all members of both parties agree. That's rare. And we are not the ones that decide what is bipartisan. So we rely on reliable sources. O3000, Ret. (talk) 13:48, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, that makes sense. KingGramulaOfTheSouthernIsles (talk) 15:47, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

- it mentions that she has recieved death threats, this should be changed to she has ALLEGEDLY recieved death threats as I am unaware of anyone having actually been convicted of having made such, further the page makes no mention of the various scandals she is embroiled in related to - again allegedly commiting immigration and other fraud(format using {{textdiff}}):
- updating and ensuring non partisan stance:
- References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want made. Please detail the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Also see Ilhan Omar#Death threats Cannolis (talk) 23:12, 24 April 2026 (UTC)- I have edited your post to remove the unnecessary bold font; please don't shout. I've also removed the empty reference section you added. How come her citizenship as a Somalian isn't listed in the info box?
[edit]Gemini just told me Somalia recognizes her as a Somalian citizen, since she hasn't undergone the necessary legal processes for renoucning said citizenship in Somalia. ~2026-20820-19 (talk) 02:55, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- Can Gemini find you reliable sources for its claims? On Wikipedia, we need those. A few months back, there was a discussion here and none was produced. BBQboffingrill me 05:02, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
- Please do not use AI here. It is not reliable. O3000, Ret. (talk) 10:11, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
Review of balance and detail in policy and committee sections
[edit]At the moment different policy positions are grouped under overly broad labels. This makes the subject's record appear insufficiently specific. WP:WEIGHT.
The current article describes the subject as "progressive". Specific positions, such as calling for the abolition of ICE, may require more precise description. Reliable sources often treat such positions as distinct from standard proposals on progressive policy. The article should distinguish between ordinary legislative proposals and systemic or "anti-establishment" positions. This seems supported by reliable sources. The category structure could be adjusted to reflect defining characteristics. WP:CATDEF
The section on foreign affairs would be clearer if it included details about how the subject's positions were received within Congress. The U.S. House of Representatives removed the subject from the Foreign Affairs Committee, citing concerns about objectivity. The institutional response should be explained for clarity. The article should therefore summarize the official actions taken. WP:NPOV
The section about the subject's removal from the Foreign Affairs Committee seems currently too vague ("past comments"). For clarity and verification the article should identify the specific statements and social media content that reliable sources describe as central to the House resolution. It should also include the response from congressional leadership. Vague dispute terms make it hard for the reader to understand the full context. WP:V Textcurator (talk) 18:29, 20 May 2026 (UTC)
- Please feel free to make edits to the article, based on reliable sources, that are consistent with Wikipedia policy. --JBL (talk) 19:00, 20 May 2026 (UTC)
- Well, that was an exceptionally poor first attempt. --JBL (talk) 20:46, 23 May 2026 (UTC)

Possible ICE surveillance
[edit]On August 10, 2026, Richfield, Minnesota police noticed a woman in a car apparently surveilling a community center where US Representative Ilhan Omar was holding a town hall meeting. When approached, the woman claimed to be security for Omar but the event organizers had no knowledge of her presence. After phoning a supervisor, the woman said she was a Homeland Security Investigations agent surveilling the location as part of nearby undercover drug investigation, then drove off.

- Sounds nasty and more than suspicious. But I don't think we have enough info for inclusion at this point. O3000, Ret. (talk) 19:50, 11 August 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, one source is far from enough for statements like these... :O - OpalYosutebito 『talk』 『articles I want to eat』 19:53, 11 August 2026 (UTC)
