Unreliable sourcing
[edit]@Camilasdandelions: There isn't an exception to deprecation for interviews. Please provide reliable sourcing for these claims or they should be removed. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:19, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Nikkimaria I have thought most of interviews are not related with the sources' reliability, since the contents are originated from the subject. No? Whenever those issues are pointed out through like good article reviews, many of nominators declared that interviews are actually fine.
- But if you still believe I should replace The Sun source with others, I should inevitably use questionable sources (like covermg.com) which cites Goulding's The Sun interview. Would it be better then? I'll follow your instruction. Camilasdandelions (✉️) 03:52, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
- Did you read the section "Acceptable uses of deprecated sources" in the information page you linked @Nikkimaria Katzrockso (talk) 07:12, 5 June 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, I've read it.
- No, a questionable source is not a good substitute - we need reliable sourcing, or we should omit the claims. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:52, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
In particular, reliability always depends on the specific content being cited, and all sources are reliable in at least some circumstances and unreliable in at least some others. Citations to deprecated sources should not be removed indiscriminately, and each case should be reviewed separately.
- The source is completely reliable for it is being cited for. Katzrockso (talk) 00:54, 7 June 2026 (UTC)

- We have no reason to suspect or believe the interview was fabricated or otherwise faked. WP:THESUN states
The RfC does not override WP:ABOUTSELF, which allows the use of The Sun for uncontroversial self-descriptions
. The content in question is Ellie Goulding relaying facts about herself. - Mindless removal of sources based on what a script says is disruptive editing. Katzrockso (talk) 01:02, 7 June 2026 (UTC)

Deprecation is used for sources that are generally considered untrustworthy; that's reason to suspect anything they may publish. ABOUTSELF would apply to something like Goulding posting to her own social media, not third party reporting. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:14, 7 June 2026 (UTC)- There are many reasons for deprecation, only some of which include "there's reason to suspect anything they may publish". Read the RSP summary for WP:THESUN and explain why it explicitly mentions WP:ABOUTSELF (which applies to all comments a subject makes about themself, regardless of where they are published). Katzrockso (talk) 01:16, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
- The ABOUTSELF exception allows for eg citing The Sun in The Sun (United Kingdom). It does not allow for a Sun reporter attributing comments to someone else. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:23, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
- That is not a sentiment shared by all of the community. See this discussion .
- Happy to start a discussion at WP:RSN if you insist on removing the source. Katzrockso (talk) 01:35, 7 June 2026 (UTC)
- Please do. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:38, 7 June 2026 (UTC)

- @Camilasdandelions: The source you're using is deprecated per community consensus. If y'all want to start a new RSN discussion about it, go right ahead - but in the interim it should stay out. Nikkimaria (talk) 00:08, 11 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Camilasdandelions: The discussion you cite did not arrive at the consensus you claim. Nikkimaria (talk) 03:45, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
- We can list it for closure at WP:CR or retrieve it from the archive to obtain more input. Katzrockso (talk) 04:03, 3 July 2026 (UTC)
- @Camilasdandelions: The responsibility for achieving consensus for inclusion is on editors seeking to include disputed content. You did not achieve that in the RSN discussion, and previous discussions on that source definitely aren't "neutral state". Please self-revert. Nikkimaria (talk) 04:30, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
