Request for additional images

I see there already as been many discussions about the images used in this article, but I think that this point would be useful. All images of both men and women show fully shaved genitals. While these images are useful for understanding the anatomy, it would be beneficial to show the anus in its natural unaltered state with intact pubic hair. Both the articles for Labia and Human Penis have images depicting both shaved and unshaven individuals, and this article would be benefited by the addition of a image of this nature. After snooping Wikimedia I found File:Human male and female anuses.jpg which has a reasonably high quality images of both a natural male and female anus, which would be suitable for this article. Feel free to check out the rest of the Talk page - these have most likely already been on display here. Oh goodness you misunderstand me, I do not want these images displayed for anything but for educational reasons. Please do not call me an anus lover. I've read through the rest of the talk page and while the images are discussed it's only in relation to if any images should be displayed at all, and whether they should be diagrams or photos. The actual content of the photos other than being anuses is not discussed. I simply thought it would be pertinent for an educational article to show this human body part in its natural unaltered state, as is true for both the human labia and human penis articles, which are the most comparable in this case. I wouldn't worry about it. It's just a weird IP comment, which are a dime a dozen on these sorts of articles. Lead image representation and balance

I want to raise a more specific and structural concern about the lead image of this article.

If the lead image is meant to visually represent the subject human anus, it should reasonably reflect that the anatomy exists across sexes. Currently, the lead image represents only a female anus, and this asymmetry is not explained or justified on encyclopedic grounds.

My concern is not that a female anus is shown, but that male anatomy is excluded at the level of presentation, despite being equally relevant to the topic. This gives the impression that the selection is driven by aesthetic preference rather than neutral anatomical representation, which conflicts with WP:NPOV and WP:UNDUE.

Repeated resistance to including a male counterpart in the lead image, without clear policy-based reasoning, reinforces this impression. If photographic representation is considered encyclopedically valuable, then it should apply consistently.

I therefore suggest one of the following approaches:

• The lead image should include both male and female anuses, presented symmetrically, or
• The lead image should be replaced with a neutral diagram, with photographs placed later in the article.

What seems least defensible is the current situation, where only one sex is visually represented in the lead without a clear encyclopedic rationale. Dnm (talk) 11:47, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Dnm, I'd support either option. The use of a diagram at the top might be preferable per MOS:SHOCKVALUE, assuming a diagram can be found that conveys the same information as a butt pic or otherwise has some sort of advantage. If it's important to represent both sexes, Template:Multiple image would be helpful regardless of whether it's at the top or lower down. Thebiguglyalien (talk) 22:52, 21 March 2026 (UTC)
