Incorrect/Unclear Source for Multiple Claims in "Abuse of women and girls" Section 17 July 2025

I checked sources 303 and 304 (UN Panel of Experts Reports from 2022 and 2023) and could not find evidence to substantiate the claims made in this paragraph: "UN Panel of Experts on Yemen discovered instances of Houthi rape of female detainees to "purify" them, as a punishment, or to coerce confessions. The Panel documented cases where Houthis forced detained women to become sex slaves that also collect information for the Houthis. Documented instances include in 2021 where a female detainee was forced to have sexual intercourse with multiple men at Houthi detention centers as part of her preparation to be forced as a sex slave for important clients while also obtaining information. The Panel also received information of another detainee who was forced to become a prostitute to gather information for the Houthis in return for their release and another similar instance had been documented in 2019. This have also resulted in women who had been detained by Houthis being ostracized by society and one instance where the woman was killed by her family for bringing shame upon the family."

Either this text should be removed from the page or should be attributed to a correct source.

Addition of "alleged" to al-Shabaab

The Africa Center for Strategic Studies, a think tank part of the U.S. Deptartment of Defense states the Houthis have ties with al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda affiliate in Somalia here. (the citation link has an extra l, which causes the 404 error)

Personally, I think this is highly questionable, ACSS bases their claim on a 2025 UN report, which in paragraph no. 40 states:

"Al-Shabaab was observed to have a developing relationship with the Houthis that was described as transactional or opportunistic, and not ideological. One Member State reported that Al-Shabaab held at least two meetings in Somalia with Houthi representatives in July and September, in which they requested advanced weapons and training."

Here are some important points:

- Only one unnamed member state made this claim

- Even the report describes the relationship as "transactional or opportunistic" and "not ideological", which weakens the case for real cooperation.

- A lack of evidence was presented in the source.

I think it's best to add "(alleged)" next to al-Shabaab in the non-state allies list per WP:NPOV. The only source for the article's claim is a ACSS Spotlight article, citing a 2025 UN report citing one anonymous member state, and the relationship is described as “transactional or opportunistic.” Josemite (talk) 09:50, 1 August 2025 (UTC)

Supreme Leader of Iran in infobox?

The source provided for listing "Supreme Leader" as a formal position in the Houthi hierarchy, , is a claim by the Yemeni Minister of Information and Culture about the Houthis recognizing Mojtaba as Iran's Supreme Leader, and interpreting it as a sign of allegiance. As the two are opposite parties in the civil war, I don't think this is enough for this very bold infobox claim if we don't have sources independent from the warring parties reaching this conclusion.
