Some additional pre-FAC comments

[edit]
  • On the subject of ref consistency, that extends to the case. It doesn't really matter which you go for, sentence or title case, but they should be consistent. You can use User:ZKang123/TitleCaseConverter.js to assist.
  • The article feels a bit inaccessible if you don't know Harry Potter at present; I get why you have the synopsis after gameplay, as that's normally how game articles are structured and I think the overview is more important, but the fact that all we get on the general shape of the game is "action RPG" and then it starts talking about the character we haven't introduced feels odd. Likewise we tell people about getting sorted into Hogwarts houses without explaining what Hogwarts is.
  • Next to experiences in Hogwarts Castle, pedantic, perhaps, but the Room of Requirement is in Hogwarts Castle versus the others.
  • I shortened up the bit about magical beasts in the vivariums, but it's weird that this sentence comes before the magical beasts are properly introduced in the following sentence (I get that you want to link it to the room of requirement but it's still oddly structured and repetitious currently.)
  • or can fly with a broom after participating in flying class Also slightly repetitious with the bit about unlocking gameplay mechanics earlier on in this section.
  • "ancient secret" being in quotes feels weird and interrupts the flow.
  • The Escapist reported that development started around 2017 or 2018." This seems oddly placed, since the rest of it is about game leaks and official announcements.

More to come but I will be traveling this weekend and might not have a chance to jot more down. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs talk 18:16, 7 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hey @David Fuchs, thanks! I will take a look this weekend. Vestigia Leonis (talk) 19:55, 7 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Alright @David Fuchs, I addressed some issues. I also tried to improve the information and flow on Magical Beasts / Vivarium. Do you think this is better now? If not, I will try to find a better way to separate Magical Beasts from the Room of Requirement.
I think it would also look better if the paragraphs were more even in size, but I need to take a closer look at how to sort the information. Lastly, I’m now questioning whether we should keep all three pictures, as the gameplay section is more condensed. I could also expand the section if we want to keep all three pictures. I’ll probably go through the reviews again, but if you spot anything that is currently missing or too short, let me know. Vestigia Leonis (talk) 09:19, 9 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
@David Fuchs Ping here - next week I have lots of time available to further improve the article. If you find some time as well, I would appreciate more comments! Vestigia Leonis (talk) 12:12, 28 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Extremely low quality sources about "failed boycott"

[edit]

We cannot be using souces that are of extremely low quality and reliability for politics and transgender topics (WP:TELEGRAPH/WP:FOXNEWS) to talk about a trans-related boycott and "cancel culture". The quote on the Telegraph source is especially egregious and should be removed regardless. Skyshiftertalk 13:10, 4 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Reading the FAC, I don't see how WP:SELFSOURCE can be applied at all, as the sources are not about themselves, but rather about a game boycott, something external to them. Pinging @UpTheOctave!: as the source reviewer. Skyshiftertalk 13:24, 4 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for starting the discussion. You basically followed up on what I was typing right now - I would have also pinged Octave here. None of the other reviewers noted anything else in particular about the sources. Vestigia Leonis (talk) 13:32, 4 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Skyshifter, thanks for reaching out. While I disagree that this was clearly overlooked – I did bring up these sources during the review – I do agree with you overall. For some reason, I didn't invoke SELFSOURCE#2&3 (it does not involve claims about third parties (such as people, organizations, or other entities) and it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject) when I should've: while I made sure at the FAC that the sources' opinions were clearly attributed and asked for the removal of some of the more egregious material, I missed this, and you're absolutely right to pull me up on this. This was my first time reviewing sources in a CTOP, so I'm very sorry that I messed up. I'll put this into practice in future reviews. @Vestigia Leonis, as per above, could I ask you to remove the material tied to these sources since they are not HQRS? Thanks and apologies, UpTheOctave!  8va? 14:11, 4 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
I've removed the "this was clearly overlooked" portion of my comment, sorry for that. Thank you for your response. Skyshiftertalk 14:13, 4 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
And thank you for catching me on this! UpTheOctave!  8va? 14:14, 4 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I don't have any objections here as well, so I removed it again. Vestigia Leonis (talk) 14:30, 4 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
