Cotham Lodge

Researching "Charles Partridge of Cotham House" is a problem that comes up elsewhere, e.g. with Maria Partridge, wife of Jeremiah Hill (merchant). Looks like there may be a solution: a newspaper report of Samuel Peach Peach's marriage refers to his father-in-law as of "Cotham Lodge"; as well as giving Emma a brother-in-law William Taswell.

"Cotham House" in the Bristol area is definitely ambiguous: in White baronets of Cotham House (1904) it looks to be a mid-Victorian place. And in Cotham, Bristol rather than to the north-west.

Anyway, in Burke, Landed Gentry gives a son and grandson of Charles Partridge of Cotham _Lodge_, which is a big help (Partridge of Horsendon House). Some dots to join.

From a report:

"Cotham Lodge was in existence by c. 1730; the date of construction is unknown but it was probably built in the late 17th or early 18th century as a replacement to an earlier house. The lodge was reached via an avenue of trees from Cotham Brow, the entrance of which was flanked by two extant stone obelisks. In 1772, the various parts of the Cotham Lodge estate were conveyed to Sydenham Teast and the Lodge had been demolished by 1828."
