203.143.158.140 (talk) 02:13, 17 August 2015 (UTC) davidchaffetz@gmail.com I understand why the contributors say that the Hebrew word is not "related" to the Arabic word, but they are etymologically identical. The semantic context has changed. The Hebrew verb is 'holding, sustaining' by extension 'delighting in' (as in "God who delights in life"); the Arabic verb is 'to hold, to retain', and by extension 'to memorize'.
