Arthur Balfour

On BBC One's Antiques Roadshow, broadcast on 21 April 2013 , paintings expert Rupert Maas told his guest that Allen worked for Prime Minister Arthur Balfour as a private secretary, although mentioning that the family's wealth was made in the steel industry in Sheffield. Date of birth

Free BMD gives December 1894 for one "Harry Allen", but ancestry.co.uk produces "Harry Epworth Allen, Date of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar 1895, Registration district: Ecclesall Bierlow": Additionally, this seemingly "reliable" WP:SPS: gives a dob of 27 November 1894 Martinevans123 (talk) 17:36, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Apparently an image of the birth certificate, which shows 27 November 1894, is included in a catalogue of Allen's works, published by Batsford. Detaiis to follow. Martinevans123 (talk) 07:32, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
