In the 2nd paragraph of Aviation, the cost of training is listed as $15 (In the 1960s), this should be adjusted for inflation. Apaphasia (talk) 06:26, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
- I think that Template:Inflation
{{Inflation|US|15|1960|fmt=eq}}would help get this job done, as it producesequivalent to $163 in 2025
for $15 in the year 1960. However, I haven't used this template before, and we don't have a specific start year to perform the inflation calculation on. We're only given "in the 1960s". Mz7 (talk) 14:46, 16 February 2017 (UTC)
- I found a video where Mr. Ford talks about his aviation history, quote "When I was in college in about 1962 I started to take some flying lessons" <snip> "But the $13 or $15 dollars an hour for a pilot and instructor was killing me, so I had to give it up for economic reasons".
{{Inflation|US|14|1962|fmt=eq}}is probably the closest we can get to the actual adjusted value. Apaphasia (talk) 20:21, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

Partly done: IMDB is not always the best source since it can be user-generated but I found an article from The Oregonian that confirms the information . Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 03:14, 22 June 2017 (UTC)
2017 Godfrey L. Cabot Award Recipient Harrison Ford
Pilot/Actor Harrison Ford was awarded the Godfrey L. Cabot Award by AeroClub of New England (ACONE). Ford was recognized for his efforts to promote aviation to the youth of America through the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and its Young Eagles Program. The event was held in Boston Ma on June 4, 2017. ACONE is the oldest aero club in the Americas, was organized on January 2, 1902, nearly two full years before the Wright brothers made their landmark flight of Dec. 17, 1903. In attendance were the many members of ACONE along with President Mark Baker from Aircraft Pilots and Owners Association, EAA President Jack Pelton, Author Charley Valera and representatives of aviation communities throughout the country.

Misplaced link
In the "Other film work" section, the link for Clear and Present Danger points to the page for the book, not the film. Would someone please correct? 23:15, 26 March 2018 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.88.48.147 (talk)

Please add the movie "Hanover Street" (1979) to Harrison Fords filmography list. Thanks. 98.5.27.250 (talk) 02:05, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
Not done: A selected filmography exists within the article, there is simply not enough space to list out every single movie that Mr. Ford has had a role in. In my opinion that would take up too much space within this biographical article. His complete filmography is on Wikipedia at Harrison Ford filmography and Hanover Street can be found there. web.archive.org link for now-invalid URL for reference re Harrison as fourth highest grossing actor
The URL no longer works. Here is a web.archive.org URL for August 2019, the month quoted, which verifies that Harrison was the fourth highest grossing actor as of that time: http://web.archive.org/web/20190823151645/https://www.boxofficemojo.com/people/?view=Actor&sort=sumgross&p=.htm
Could this link be substituted in place of the current, now invalid, URL? Thanks in advance. - 203.217.84.87 (talk) 19:55, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

A sentence badly in need of some punctuation:
"Spielberg was interested in casting Ford from the beginning, but Lucas was not, having already worked with the actor in American Graffiti and Star Wars. 81.103.37.86 (talk) 08:53, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

I moved the following subsection here for possible discussion (per: WP:ELBURDEN) of what to do with them. The "External links" section is not a dumping ground for non-relevant links nor a holding pen for possible future sources that can be discussed here.

Lead image
Perhaps it would make more sense to have a picture of Harrison Ford when he was younger, since (as far as I'm aware – feel free to correct me) he is best known for the roles he played when he was younger (Indiana Jones/Star Wars). Just an idea - Aza24 (talk) 21:10, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
Lead image
I don't believe the lead image on this page is good enough. Firstly, the image rights are questionable. It is supposedly a user's own image. The owner added the image to this article on April Fools Day, and has never uploaded other images or made any edits to film-related articles. [is the picture, for reference].
As for the image itself. Ford in the picture is barely recognizable. Instead of the iconic old man Harrison Ford look, he has a bizarre Abraham Lincoln beard. Images such as [Ford by Gage Skidmore.jpg] (which is used in the Harrison Ford filmography article) and [Ford 2017.jpg] (which is used in his article on the simple Wikipedia) have Harrison Ford look just like the older versions of Rick Deckard and Han Solo. Any thoughts? Painting17 (talk) 20:02, 11 June 2021 (UTC)
Conscientious objector during the Vietnam War
I just watched an interview with Ford in which he said he was drafted during the Vietnam War, but avoided service by becoming a conscientious objector. Here's the full quote, while answering a question about his anti-war views:
"I was invited to go to Vietnam, along with many of my contemporaries, and I said I'm not going. And I went through a long legal process as a conscientious objector. I am anti-war, for whatever that means."
The fact that he was a conscientious objector during the Vietnam War is noteworthy, in my view, and should be noted on his page. It could go either in the personal life section or the activism section- I would probably put it under personal life, since it was before he was famous I don't think it was meant as a public statement.
Here's the link to the video of the interview (the quote above comes at about 32:32):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OGtWyC0jMOg&t=1452s
I would make this change myself, but I don't have enough contributions to have permission to edit this page, so I'm adding this note to the talk section in the hope that someone else will.

Unverified statement in "early life" section
On November 3rd 2007, the first two sentences of "Early work" (now under career) were revised to include a statement about Ford moving to Los Angeles for radio work. There is no evidence of this ever happening, therefore it would be better to revert back to the original sentence - "In 1964, Ford moved to Los Angeles, California, where he signed a contract with Columbia Pictures for $150 a week in the studio's New Talent program, playing bit roles in films." 2603:6080:8A00:7707:9CB0:4FCB:35CF:2A6A (talk) 22:25, 4 February 2023 (UTC)

Correction in spelling: Change the word "adapted" to read "adopted" in reference to Ford's dietary preferences in the last paragraph of the "Personal Life" section. Elvisomar (talk) 06:44, 6 March 2023 (UTC)
Partly done: I just removed the sentence, as it looks to be undue. The secondary sourcing (two niche sites about vegetarianism) was not significant enough for a mention, in my view. If someone restores this, please don't say "ditched meat". ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 13:06, 6 March 2023 (UTC)

Radio voice-over career attempt
It looks like an anonymous user added that Harrison Ford unsuccessfully tried to have a career in radio voice-overs before becoming a film actor (see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Harrison_Ford&diff=prev&oldid=168873418). No source was cited during that edit and I can't seem to find any reputable source verifying it. (There do seem to be a lot of website copying that claim verbatim without attribution, however). I think it should be removed unless we can find a reputable source. Beanwich (talk) 22:37, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Beanwich, I haven't been able to find anything to support that claim, including in a bio of Ford (already used in other places in the article), so I revised the sentence to what the bio does support. Schazjmd (talk) 23:10, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
