Hammersmith Bridge is a suspension bridge which crosses the River Thames in west London. The second permanent bridge on the site, the current bridge was designed by Sir Joseph Bazalgette and rests upon its predecessor's pier foundations. This is the communications team at Hammersmith Council - we own Hammersmith Bridge and would like to correct a line that says previous works to the bridge were delayed by a dispute between us and Transport for London over funding. This claim is based on an erroneous headline in a BBC news article. The work wasn't held up by a funding dispute. Please can you permit the change I am making to the text to make this correction?
The BBC headline appears to summarise the contents of their news story accurately. It quotes LBHF leader Steven Cowan as follows: ""There's no way that this council is going to spend anything like that money, the majority of this issue is the responsibility of TfL and we will work with them to make sure the bridge is fit for public purpose.". --- Asteuartw (talk) 16:05, 15 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
Recentism and WP:COATRACK in 'Structural problems'

The post-2019 'Structural problems' chapter has largely taken over the article with absurdly detailed, blow-by-blow he-said she-said narrative of political shenanigans which have more to do with the rifts between local, city, and central government than this particular bridge. I suggest we cut it down to describe the basic facts of the structural problems (per the chapter's title), and ensure its length is in keeping with the rest of the article. If folks think that much political detail is necessary, then we could split out the chapter to Protracted negotiations over the structural problems of Hammersmith Bridge, of course. I've run the article through all the checks that Earwig can do, and the section certainly does not appear to have been copied and pasted en bloc: indeed, it's reliably cited to multiple sources, and it derives as expected from those sources. Earwig did find some possible copyvios, mostly not in this section, and I've edited all of them. There remain a couple of directly-quoted bits of reported speech, which is fine as they are not overly long, in quotation marks, attributed, and cited.
