Questionable notability
[edit]While in HR catalog, and therefore presumed notable, there is practically no information other than standard catalog data. I would therefore posit that WP:NASTRO is not satisfied. I have checked the very first reference, Anderson et al. (2012), and did not find even a mention. Did I miss something? Pinging @21.Andromedae: Викидим (talk) 01:29, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
- Star articles in general have only catalog data, even for stars as bright as third magnitude, Alpha Phoenicis is a good example. This is pretty normal, the article can be constructed just with data in catalogs. 21 Andromedae (talk) 09:27, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
- At this point, there is no article here per any reasonable definition of the word "article". This situation does not reflect well on our encyclopedia. Alpha Phoenicis might not contain more information than this article, but it does appear to contain more, there is some text there that can qualify as a stub IMHO. - I have also checked the second reference, and cannot find this star there as well under its HD and HR designations. Is it included there under some unknown to me ID? Is it actually inside some database that is referred to in the article cited? Викидим (talk) 10:09, 14 June 2025 (UTC)
- The second reference? Gaia DR3? There is an explicit link to a database record for this star. Perhaps you mean a different reference? Some of the references (eg. The Tycho-2 catalog) are citations of catalogs and individual stars will only be found in the full catalog, which might mean following several links. Lithopsian (talk) 13:27, 15 June 2025 (UTC)
- Looking at old versions, it looks like the New Hipparcos Reduction was the second reference prior to a flurry of updates. As I said, this star will only be found in the full catalog, not the journal paper. It can be found, for example, from the NASA ADS page, or by going directly to VizieR.
