Granophyric versus Micrographic

The terms "granophyre" and "granophyric texture" are used widely to describe the texture of devitrified volcanic rocks so the term shouldn't be used to describe rocks with "micrographic textures" like that shown in the image or as described. Both uses of the term should be described with the suggestion to use the term micrographic texture to describe the cuneiform intergrowths of quartz and alkali feldspar.
