Hatnote

[edit]

@Rofa33: Coming here per BRD. I'm confused as to why you reverted my removal of the hatnote. In what way is there a reasonable possibility of a reader arriving at the article either by mistake or with another topic in mind (WP:HATNOTERULES)? ~ F4U (talkthey/it) 10:42, 17 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

A reader looking for ECT and not knowing or remembering what it is called may end up at this article instead. There is a significant possibility for confusion between the two especially considering they are both described in regular speech as "shock therapy". I am still new to Wikipedia editing as a whole and so if it is deemed that my revert was in error I apologise. Rofa33 (talk) 11:19, 17 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Excessive mentions of FDA ban history

[edit]

It appears the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's attempted and proposed bans of the GED are mentioned in detail in the lead and in three different sections of the article body. This is neither efficient nor necessary. I'm leaving the sections in question intact for now (after updating them), but suggest someone cut two of the three mentions that follow the lead. For inexperienced editors, I also suggest reading through an article before you edit it to see if someone already added the information that you're adding; if they did, you don't need to add it again in the vast majority of cases.
